Martin Smith is Jim Quessenberry’s first cousin — son of J.H. Smith and Winnie Bob Shaver, Jackie’s brother, landscape architect, and current owner of the 1903 W.M. Smith House at 10 CR 334.
The house stands on Major R. Pope’s Walnut Camp site. Becky and Johnny Collier lived there through the 1980s–90s. Martin and Kara took it after them. Whit’s 2018 vegetable operation — Birdeye Farms — is on this same ground. It is not Birdeye Angus Farms.
With his wife Kara he founded studioDRIFT (2020) under Ecological Design Group — gravel, paddle sports, and agri-tourism meant to keep Crowley’s Ridge towns alive. He designed the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery at Birdeye. Birdeye Farms, the regenerative operation on the family ground, is Kara as registered agent and Whit Smith as the fifth-generation farmer in public.
The Birdeye Gravel Festival happens at this house and farm: bikes, running, live music, farm hospitality. Lee and Michael cater those weekends — and other events — with Martin, Kara, and Jackie. That is the agritourism version of Jim’s map. Becky is not there.
