History
The house
The W.M. Smith House sits on Major R. Pope’s Walnut Camp — the overnight wagon stop on Bay Road from Wittsburg. After the war the four Smith children shared it. Martin and Kara keep it now. Jackie is on the same map. Festival weekends put bikes, music, and plates on the lawn.

Mid-1950s they peeled off across Pope Creek and built four houses on the old tract. Jim grew up in the second one.
