Spice Beautiful — Original

Born in the 1980s on the competition circuit as Jim Quessenberry's signature finishing rub. Competed at the first Memphis in May in 1978, two-time Irish Cup champion (1985 & 1987) — this is the real deal that made the Trav'ler team legends.

All-purpose BBQ rub seasoning for chicken, pork, beef, and everything in between. Jim Quessenberry's original championship blend.

Spice Beautiful Original is Jim’s all-purpose championship BBQ rub seasoning — the one we keep closest to the grill and reach for when in doubt. It’s balanced sweet and savory, with brown sugar, paprika, garlic, onion, a kiss of heat, and a secret slide of spices that rounds out the whole thing. It’s not smoke-forward like our Hickory — it’s brighter, a little sweeter, and meant to make whatever you put it on taste like the best version of itself.

Rub it on chicken (wings, thighs, whole bird — doesn’t matter), pork chops, tenderloin, pulled pork, brisket, sausage, shrimp, vegetables, or potatoes. Use it as a dry rub for smoking, a seasoning for grilling, or a finishing sprinkle on fries and popcorn. It’s the kind of jar that somehow ends up in every drawer in the kitchen.

This is the rub Jim used to win with — the same blend Michael has been mixing since he was a kid in Dad’s kitchen, standing on a stool. If you’re buying your first jar from us, start here. If you’ve been buying our stuff for years, you already know.
